Texas Longhorns Betting Outlook
The Texas Longhorns started the season off on an exciting note with the acquisition of transfer Quinn Ewers. But this excitement was quickly extinguished when he got hurt during the first half of the game versus Alabama.
Ewers looked very sound in his first-ever start. He looked poised and prepared to upset a top-ranked Alabama team but was injured in the first half.
Sources: Star quarterback Quinn Ewers will return for Texas on Saturday and is expected to start in the Red River game against Oklahoma. He’s been practicing without limitations this week.

Ewers adds another element to the Texas offense with his ability to run the ball when needed. This addition should cause big issues for the Sooner defense whose strength revolves around their pass defense. Ewers means a lot to this Texas team, as we saw the Texas vs Oklahoma odds move from 4 points to 9 points when Ewers was announced as the expected starter.
TCU was able to put up 668 yards on this Oklahoma defense. Texas will look to tear apart this defense via the run game. The Oklahoma defense gives up 198 yards per game on the ground, with an average of almost 4.6 yards per carry.
The Texas offense has averaged 36.8 points per game, majority of which were without Ewers, the Longhorns are hoping to take a step in the right direction and get above 50% in conference play. There’s a reason they were one of the top favorites in the Big 12 Championship odds.
Oklahoma Sooners Betting Outlook
The Sooners got absolutely embarrassed last week versus TCU and the game was over essentially before the 1st quarter came to a close. The Sooners were 5-point favorites in the matchup and lost outright by 31.
As mentioned earlier, the Sooners do have a few holes on their defense, but their hopes are still high with their offense!

They have put up 37 points per game over their last five games ranking them in the top twenty in points scored. They are also averaging 13.7 yards per catch and 5.2 yards per carry on offense.
Even though they do put up yards and points on offense, I do have a couple of concerns around their ability to convert on third downs and time of possession.
Texas vs Oklahoma Pick & Prediction
When you dig deeper into the Oklahoma scoring offense, they score quite quickly. In terms of points per play, Oklahoma ranks #19 in the nation.
Normally this would not be a big deal and positive in most situations, but for a defense that already struggles, more time on the field will create additional problems with fatigue and yards allowed.
Both offenses should definitely hold the edge this weekend, and I believe it will be another high scoring affair like we have seen in recent Red River Rivalry show downs.
With both teams ranking in the bottom 25% in terms stopping opponents on 3rd down, I like points to be scored in this one! I do lean Texas, but with it being an away game in this rivalry, it is tough to back 9 points. Go with over 65.5 at -110 in the Texas vs Oklahoma odds this Saturday.
