BetMGM announced on Monday, May 9th that they’ve partnered with the Houston Astros. Texas online sports betting is not currently legal, but this could be a stepping stone in the right direction. BetMGM Sportsbook is currently legal in 14 US States and just recently made the leap across the border going live in Ontario, Canada in early April. Texans seem eager for sports betting to become officially legalized, but for now Daily Fantasy Sports is the only viable option for wagering enthusiasts.

Texas, along with California, are two of the biggest states yet to legalize sports wagering. New York online sports betting was the most anticipated launch due to the size and popularity of sports in the state. The Empire State has brought in almost $6 billion in sports betting revenue since launching in early June. Individuals should expect a similar handle when these states go live.

BetMGM Announces Sports Betting Partnership with Houston Astros

Even though Texas online sports betting has not yet been legalized, there is a lot of interest in the state. This BetMGM partnership with the Houston Astros should get things headed in the right direction. The reason is, that sports teams have shown the most interest and are the biggest advocates for legal wagering.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, along with the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks, have been some of the names pushing for legal online sports betting.

With this BetMGM partnership, the Houston Astros park will look a little different. There will be signs and advertisements across Minute Maid Park, including one outfield wall sign. This is just the tip of the iceberg, expect to see the BetMGM brand more involved with the Houston Astros moving forward.

Is Online Sports Betting Legal in Texas?

As mentioned above, Texas online sports betting is not yet legal. However, DFS is available for sports bettors. Websites like DraftKings, FanDuel, OwnersBox, and others are a few of the available platforms.

Beto O’Rourke is an American politician, who is currently running for the governor of Texas. He has expressed interest in getting an online sports betting bill passed since Texans have been motivated. There are offshore online sportsbooks that generate a ton of revenue that is unregulated. With an online sports betting bill being passed, sports bettors will have more protection, preserve the integrity of sporting events, and allow the government to monitor action.

What States are BetMGM Legal In?

BetMGM is currently available in 14 states. Users can get the BetMGM app in Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

BetMGM Ontario was their most recent launch on April 4th. Ontario was the first province to officially launch in Canada, so along with BetMGM, FanDuel, Caesars Sportsbook, PointsBet, BetRivers, and other sportsbooks.
