- Ohio State is the clear favorite in BIG10 Championship odds
- Plenty of BIG10 West teams in contention for a championship appearance in 2022
- Read below to find out where the college football betting value lies in the BIG10 this season
The betting odds indicate that the BIG10 is the most cut and dry conference in all of the power-5. Not even the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide are as large of favorites to claim their conference than the Ohio State Buckeyes. But much like 2021 with Michigan, a lot can happen over the course of a season. We’ll look into a few of the best betting options in the BIG10 Championship odds for 2022.
Ohio State is a powerhouse, they’re stacked with talent on offense and then added Jim Knowles to coach the defense. Who put together a masterclass season for Oklahoma State last year. But anything can happen in one game, so if you’re looking for value the BIG10 West is the place to find it. But who knows, Penn State and Michigan could have something to say about that.

The Wolverines are next up on the odds board behind OSU to take down the BIG10 title. With +750 odds, sports bettors can claim the best Michigan sports betting promos to get in on the action. The maize and blue lose the dynamic duo of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo to the NFL, but do return plenty of talent on offense. With Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy at QB, Blake Corum at RB and Cornellius Johnson leading the wideouts.
The Iowa Hawkeyes find themselves a ways down the odds board at Caesars Sportsbook, which is surprising to see after they made the BIG10 title game last season. Kirk Ferentz is always going to deploy an elite defense, especially with standout linebacker Jack Campbell. OSU Deserving Favorite in BIG10 Championship Odds
It’s hard to take any other team in the conference seriously to win the title. Ohio State is absolutely loaded on the offensive side of the ball. The skill positions are loaded with talent that could grace the cover of the upcoming EA Sports NCAA 2023 video game. There’s CJ Stroud, who’s the favorite to go 1st overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who’ll likely be the first WR off the board in 2023. TreVeyon Henderson, who I believe is the best running back in CFB right now. This offense just needs to get off the bus and they’ll put up a number that starts with at least a 4 on it.
The defense was what kept them from making the National Championship last season. Michigan ran them over in the trenches, so now Ohio State will look to what was a young group last season to take a significant jump in 2022. There is no reason they can’t do that as they’re incredibly talented, Jack Sawyer, Tyleik Williams and JT Tuimoloau played significant snaps as freshman in 2021.
Jim Knowles should be able to work wonders with the Buckeyes secondary, at Oklahoma State the Cowboys ranked 16th in opponent yards per pass attempt and the 2nd best third down defense in the country. There isn’t much value in betting on this team to win the conference at -250 odds, but that’s an implied probability of 71% and that seems about right.
Golden Gophers Valuable Betting Pick for BIG10 Championship
I would argue that PJ Fleck and Minnesota had the quietest 9-4 season in college football last year. I think a lot of that came down to just how stale their offense was, they looked like a service academy week in and week out. The Golden Gophers ran the ball on 68.2% of plays, 4th most in college football. Their 361.2 yards per game was 93rd in the nation.
They let go of Mike Sanford, who was an unmitigated disaster in my opinion, derailing quarterback Tanner Morgan’s career after a record setting 2019 season. Now Fleck brings back his offensive coordinator from that 2019 season in Kirk Ciarrocca. The offense also brings back a lot of talent on offense, with 80% production being back, two of those being the running backs Trey Potts and Mohamed Ibrahim. Not to mention senior receiver Chris Autman-Bell.
Year six for #Gophers QB Tanner Morgan.
P.J. Fleck and Chris Autman-Bell both said today that Tanner looks the best they've seen him going into the season.

The defense isn’t as lucky to return as many starters, they sent two defensive linemen to the NFL, one being 2nd round pick Boye Mafe to the Seattle Seahawks. Fleck believes edge defender Thomas Rush can step up in an expanded role after turning 21 pressures into 7 sacks last season. The Golden Gophers had one of the top defenses in the conference last season, allowing only 17.3 points per game, with more than 50% of production returning they should still be the highlight of this roster.
The Gophers three toughest tests will be at Michigan State, at Penn State and at Wisconsin. But they’re lucky enough to avoid Michigan and Ohio State. But in games with expected tight point spreads against Iowa, Nebraska and Purdue they have the benefit of home field. Two conference losses would still be enough to make the BIG10 Championship out of the West.
