  • New Jersey open up as favorites in the Islanders vs Devils odds
  • Read below our best NHL betting pick for this Friday night matchup

On Friday night, we have a matchup between two of the biggest surprises in the NHL. The first place, New Jersey Devils face off against the third place, New York Islanders. With New Jersey’s great track record at home, it’s obvious why they are listed as heavy home favorites in the Islanders vs Devils odds.

The Devils come into Friday on fire with wins in 17 of their last 20 games. The New Jersey Devils lead the NHL in points with 43 points and are led by superstars Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, who are both playing at a Point per game rate.

Let’s take a look at the Islanders vs Devils odds for this Friday night as we breakdown our best NHL bet.

New York Islanders vs New Jersey Devils Odds

New York Islanders +165 +1.5 (-165) Over 6.0 (-105)
New Jersey Devils -195 -1.5 (+140) Under 6.0 (-115)

New York Islanders Betting Outlook

The New York Islanders have been one of the biggest surprises in the Metropolitan Division and its mainly in part due to a complete change in styles. The Islanders of old are gone, and this new look Islanders team is high flying with chances going either way.

The New York Islanders are currently tied for 3rd place in the Metro division with 32 points.

The Islanders are scoring 2.9 goals per game and allowing 3.0 goals in their last 10 games. The once defensively astute Islanders now relies on goalie Ilya Sorokin, who has been one of the best goalies in the NHL.

The Islanders are giving up about 31 shots per game in their L10 and taking 31.7 in that same time period. This number goes up to 32 shots on goal allowed away from home, where they have struggled with a 7-6-0 record away this season.

The key stars to look at, aside from Sorokin are Mathew Barzal and Noah Dobson. Barzal has 28 points in 27 games, although only 3 of those being goals.

Dobson on the other hand, has been one of the best players for shots on goal this year. Dobson has hit his SOG line in 9 of his last10 games and has hit in four in a row coming into Friday. Both could be good bets, but I will air on the side of caution as the New Jersey Devils are typically dominating play and limiting all teams shots so far this season.

New Jersey Devils Betting Outlook

The Devils come into Friday, the biggest surprises in the NHL. Winners of 17 of their last 20 games, the Devils sit atop not only the Metro, but the entire NHL. The biggest surprise is at the level of dominance they have shown this year. The Devils are scoring 3.7 goals per game, while only allowing 2.1 this season. They are allowing 26 shots per game this year all while taking about 35 shots per game.

Jack Hughes is on an incredible run to start his season. Hughes has 31 points in 26 games, and has 10 points in his last 6 games.

Supplemented with Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt, all playing at a point per game pace, Noah Dobson and elite goaltender Ilya Sorokin will have their hands full to keep the Devils at bay at the Prudential Center.

Jack Hughes is the star, but the Devils young core has all stepped up. Nico Hischier, Jack Hughes, and Jesper Bratt all have a point in 8 of their last 10 games, and all of them are at a point per game pace this season. Hughes has been the most consistent shooter and is currently 11th in the entire NHL is shots on goal.

Nico Hischier and Dougie Hamilton on the other hand have been incredibly consistent hitting their shots on goal at home and both are coming off a 5+ shot on goal game for both. With the Islanders being top 10 in shot allowed to centers, left wingers and Dmen, all of them would be fantastic targets to get shooting on Friday Night.

Islanders vs Devils Prediction and Best Bets

I expect the Devils to continue their good streak at home on Friday Night. The last time these two matched up, the Devils outshoot the Islanders 16-2 in the 1st period and ended up outshooting the Islanders 43-17 on their way to a 4-1 victory.

That was on Long Island, and the Islanders now travel to Newark, and their away record is worse then their home record.

I will be taking the Devils 60 Min Line (-120) tomorrow night in the Islanders vs Devils odds.

I am also adding a SGP via Caesars as follows – Devils ML / Dougie Over 3.5 Shots / Dobson Over 2.5 Shots / Hughes Over 3.5 Shots / Nico Hischier Over 2.5 Shots / Bratt 1 Point / Barzal 1 Point (Add Sorokin Saves once it comes out) (+2700)
