- The Nets travel to the nation’s capital to take on the Wizards on Friday night
- Brooklyn are 1-point home favorites on the road
- Read below to lock in our best betting pick for Friday night’s clash at DraftKings Sportsbook
After a noisy offseason, the Nets are once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Kyrie Irving is in hot water for promoting antisemitism, and head coach Steve Nash was just fired.
Kevin Durant decided to run it back after demanding a trade, but despite career-high scoring numbers from the superstar, Brooklyn is just 2-5, and Ben Simmons is already in the midst of a multi-game injury absence. Brooklyn are short road favorites in the Nets vs Wizards odds on Friday night.
The Wizards are a respectable 4-4 and in 7th place in the Eastern Conference. Expectations weren’t high for this team, but it’s been nice seeing Bradley Beal back in action, Kyle Kuzma continuing to succeed and Kristaps Porzingis (new beard and all) doing his thing on both ends of the court.
The rest of season outlook is decidedly different for these franchises, with Washington humming along steadily and Brooklyn on the precipice of total collapse. How will things shake out when they meet Friday? Let’s take a look at the NBA betting odds as breakdown our best bet for the night.

Brooklyn Nets Betting Outlook
The Nets have won only two games this season, and things aren’t looking great for a squad that has fallen so short of title aspirations each and every year. For a team with two 30-point per game scorers, Brooklyn’s offense has underachieved in a big way and ranks 21st with just 112.0 points per contest. The defense has been even worse, as the Nets allow 118.8 points per game, 25th in the Association.
Worst teams against the spread this season:
Nets 1-7 ATS
Clippers 1-6 ATS
Lakers 1-5 ATS
Heat 2-6 ATS
Warriors 2-6 ATS
Hawks 2-5 ATS
Wizards 2-5 ATS
Magic 2-5-1 ATSCombined these teams are 13-45-1 (22%) ATS. ❌

The Nets are the worst team in the Association ATS at just 1-7, while Washington is 3-5 after winning and covering Wednesday against the Sixers. Brooklyn is 0-2 on the road and just 1-4 as the favorite, which is why they are just short favorites in the Nets vs Wizards odds.
Washington Wizards Betting Outlook
The Wiz aren’t putting up a lot of points this season and rank 23rd with 110.8 per game. Fortunately, the defense is above average and allows just 111.4 points per game (13th).

Washington is 1-2-1 ATS at home this season and 0-1 as the home underdog. The Wiz have hit the over in each of their last two games and are 3-1 as the underdog. After taking down the Sixers on the road, the Wizards will head home searching for a second straight victory.
Nets vs Wizards Pick & Prediction
It’s been a losing venture to wager on Brooklyn this season, and no team has made bettors less profitable. This one is essentially a pick ’em, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the line moved in favor of Washington before Friday’s tip off.
We’re not going to lay down money on the Nets here. The Nets vs Wizards odds for Washington to cover (-110) aren’t as good as them to win straight up (-105), so we’ll take the ML.
Pick: Wizards ML (-105) 1u
Washington scored a season-best 21 points in Wednesday’s win, and Kristaps Porzingis scored 30 points in back-to-back games for the first time since the 2020 Bubble. Washington has several capable scorers and plays sound defense.
The Wiz can throw those scorers at the dysfunctional Nets, who haven’t had an answer on defense all season. I’d expect Kyrie and KD to continue scoring at a high clip, per usual.
Pick: Over 228.5 (-110) 0.5u
The Nets defense has been abysmal this season and opposing players have taken advantage. Here are some of the notable performances against Brooklyn so far: Chris Duarte (30 points), Benn Mathurin (career-high 32 points), Luka Doncic (41 points), Giannis Antetokounmpo (43 points), Desmond Bane (career-high 38 points), Pascal Siakam (37-point triple-double).

Ben Simmons remains out for this one, and there’s no reason to expect a sudden turnaround in defensive performance from Durant, Irving and the revolving cast of wings and guards around them.
Kristaps Porzingis has scored 32 and 30 in his last two games, and his points prop is set at just 21.5 in this one. Bradley Beal’s is set for the same, and though he’s not vying for the scoring title, he’s still a capable scorer. I think they’ll both get to 22 against Brooklyn’s bottom-of-the-barrel defense, so take advantage of these Nets vs Wizards props.
Pick: Bradley Beal o21.5 points (-115), Kristaps Porzingis o21.5 points (-115) 1u
