Don’t look now, but the Washington Wizards are sitting at 10-8 and in 5th place in the Eastern Conference. Are we looking at a playoff contender out of the country’s capital? Well, if their two, somewhat written-off 27 year-old’s, Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis, can continue their turnaround, then we might see some magic happen in DC. When you’re able to have three guys on the floor giving you 20+ a night, you’re going to give yourself a chance against anyone.
On the other side of the court, what’s happened with Miami? More importantly, what’s happened with Jimmy Butlers haircut? Our guy’s locks appeared and vanished quicker than that Bumble Baddie you told all your friends about. “We were just really getting to like each other. I don’t know what happened…”
Quick moment of silence before we look at the fact that the Miami Heat have fallen to a 8-11 record due to a 4 game skid after a winless road trip. (Pause for grieving.) Getting back on the horse and moving forward, this team is much better than their record dictates. We all hit rough patches — it’s how we respond to those that define us. I think that’s written in the Torah somewhere.
At the end of the day, head over to Rotowire.com and have a gander at the injury report for this game. Impressive is an understatement.
Let’s get to work on clicking the right buttons for this game though.

Washington Wizards Betting Outlook
Washington is touting a 7-3 record in their last 10 games, which include a six game home stand where they won 5 of 6. One of those victories was over Miami only 5 days ago, when they came back from a 12-point first half deficit to pull out a 107-106 OT victory.
Super tough to pull out that same kind of magic on the road, so if they find themselves struggling early again, a bet in their direction may never find life.
As we saw on Wednesday night against the Heat, Washington has found themselves pulling a regular Stanley Yelnats and digging out of holes regularly on the road this year. (Go ahead and toss a crown on that one for the cheesiest line in today’s article.).

Through 7 away games this year, they’re averaging a 3+ point deficit coming out of the first half, while Miami protects their home court well with a 2.6 point advantage going into the locker rooms at half.
This whole game is going to hang on the front court for the Wizards. Will Porzingis continue to struggle from behind the arc when on the road? He’s 24% from 3 away vs 44% at home. Can Kuzma’s consistency continue? A major bright spot for this team and their lottery pick forward from 2020, Deni Avdija, is that he’s had career numbers over the 6 games that he’s played 30+ minutes — putting up 14-7-4 over that span, including a 12-9-10 outing on Wednesday.
Miami Heat Betting Outlook
Looking at the squad down in South Beach, we get a team that’s been an easy fade so far this year. They have the second worst record ATS, failing to cover for the boys in 13 of 18 games. That split looks even worse at home as they’ve sold the bag for their bettors in 8 of 10 games. With injuries continuing to be a concern, will be see them able to repeat the same effectiveness against Washington for two games in a row?
They were able to squeak out another win against Washington on Wednesday, but on the backs of Caleb Martin having an absolutely career night — going 10-17 from the field for 24 points — and Kyle Lowry putting up a season high 27.

This is a team that’s really struggled in the second half of games, especially over their last three where the have a 11.7 pt deficit. We want to believe in Spoelstra and in this Miami Heat team, but group therapy may be needed.
Wizards vs Heat Pick & Prediction
These two teams have traded wins over the last week. Both games have been eerily similar though. Miami gets up to an early and substantial lead, then Washington comes creeping all the way back in the second half.
I’ll be curious to see what the injury reports look like ahead of tipoff, because if Beal is playing that’ll certainly change things. I’m going to roll with the common trend in this one and take Miami Heat to win the first half. The Wizards have struggled mightily over the last week in the first half and average a deficit of -5.1 points on the road this year.
Pick: Miami -2.5 1H
