MLB Division Winner Predictions
We’re a week away from the start of the MLB season, let me dive in to who I’m going to wager on to win each of the divisions in Major League Baseball.
As always, be sure to check out our partners at BetMGM as that’s where all of these odds can be found!
National League East: Philadelphia Phillies +400
I’m going to take a chance on one of the best lineups in all of baseball. A bounce back for Aaron Nola, the rise of Bryson Stott and a 40 save campaign from Corey Knebel can drive these Phillies over the top. I truly believe this is a 3 playoff team division, with the Braves and Mets, but based on the odds, I’ll put my money on the Phillies to get it done. Schwarber, Castellanos, Harper, Realmuto & Hoskins is a murderers row, and this might be the year they can put it all together again.
National League Central: Milwaukee Brewers -175
The Brewers pitching staff is unbelievable. Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta is one of the best trios in the game, and got them to the playoffs last year. Christian Yelich should return to better form and carry this team offensively. while Willy Adames will enjoy a full on breakout season. The Cardinals are the only other team that I see competing for this division, but don’t think they improved their staff enough to take out the Brewers. Unfortunately we have to lay the juice, but its the right move in my opinion.
National League West: Los Angeles Dodgers -222
Are we really going to pick against the Dodgers this season? The best regular season team for the last decade got even better with the addition of Freddie Freeman. There is cause for some concern at the back end of the rotation until Dustin May can make it back, but there’s no way I can pick against the Dodgers. The most complete team in baseball is the Dodgers, and it would be tough to want to put my money somewhere else. I think what the Giants did last season can happen again, but it will be the Padres who bring up second in the division. A Blake Snell bounce back and a breakout from Joe Musgrove will have the Padres in the 3rd Wild Card spot.
American League East: Toronto Blue Jays +180
The most electric team in baseball isn’t in America, it’s in Toronto. The Jays added Kevin Gausman to a stacked rotation, and some bullpen additions have flown under the radar. I worry about the Rays, but the hype for the Blue Jays is not something I can ignore. I think the Rays are being severely underrated here again, as the big market teams are getting all of the press, but there is a really good chance 4 playoff teams could come out of this division.
New York sports betting markets list the Yankees at +200, depending on what online sportsbook you’re looking at.
American League Central: Detroit Tigers +750
Time to take a shot here. I’m going to put money on the Tigers to win the Central. Think about the additions they could see this season: Javier Baez, Spencer Torkelson and Riley Greene. That is a franchise changing trio. Although I don’t believe their arms can hold up, much weirder things have happened over a full season. Give me these odds and lets see what we can do with a little bit of Motown Magic.
American League West: Los Angeles Angels +400
This is the year it happens, Mike Trout takes the Angels to the playoffs for the first time since 2014. I think Jo Adell and Patrick Sandoval take massive leaps, and Anthony Rendon stays healthy while the most versatile player in all of sports dominates on the mound and at the plate for the second straight season. I like what the Astros are doing, they’ve really had so much success, but I can’t lay juice on every division winner.
