5 Wide Receivers to Target in Week 2
Mike Williams ($5,200) – Playing in a bit of a different role from usual last week, Mike Williams is a great play against the Cowboys this week. As more of a prototypical X receiver, he was a more consistent producer and reliable target for Herbert. His 12 targets was the 2nd most he’s ever gotten in 1 week in his career, and his 8 receptions was the highest of his career. If this is a sign of things to come, Williams is a great value at his price and a better asset in full PPR than he used to be.
Marquise Brown ($4,800) – Another nice cheap play this week is Hollywood Brown. After Monday nights game, Brown has now had either 80+ receiving yards or scored a touchdown in 9 consecutive games. Yeah I was surprised too. With a matchup against the Chiefs, he’s a must start in season long leagues and a great play in salary cap contests. If that streak is going to end, I don’t think it’s going to be this week, this should be a shootout.
Anthony Schwartz ($3,400) – If you’re looking for a cheap flyer, Schwartz is your guy this week. Odell Beckham Jr is out again, and the Browns used Schwartz a fair amount in his first career game both through the air and on the ground. In a easy matchup against the Texans I expect them to continue trying to get the playmaker the ball and he’s got the ability to take any play to the house, so the risk vs reward here is definitely worth it.
Cooper Kupp ($6,100) – Kupp looked like the true number 1 target for Stafford against the Bears, racking up 10 targets in comparison to Robert Woods’ 4. Now that could very easily flip in Week 2, but the Rams go into Indianapolis this week, where Russ just absolutely torched them. Assuming Stafford can do the same, Kupp has the best chance of being the biggest benefactor of that.
Davante Adams ($7,700) – This is most certainly not a good value pick, but there’s no problem picking the top dogs. After one of the most embarrassing games of his career against the Saints, I fully expect Aaron Rodgers to bounce back in a big way on Monday night. This Lions defense isn’t good and I don’t think Rodgers is going to care about running up the score, he just wants to prove everyone wrong and show he’s still got it. He’s going to be slinging it to Adams all night and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a multiple touchdown, 100+ yard night for him.
