We’re getting down to the final stretch of the fantasy football regular season. You might be in a position where you need every win you can get to make the playoffs, so every start/sit decision matters. If you need help on knowing which running backs to start this week, here are 3 running backs you need for your week 12 lineup.
Javonte Williams/Melvin Gordon ($5,000/$5,100) – Javonte hasn’t taken over this backfield like some people had thought he would, as this has remained a completely split backfield throughout the entire season. However with a matchup against the Chargers I think both are great starts this week. The Chargers allow the 2nd most rushing attempts per game (30.8), only trailing the winless Lions and allow the most rushing yards against per game at 145 yards. I expect the Broncos to lean on both backs very heavily, and both should have a very solid floor, putting up at least RB3/flex type numbers.
Elijah Mitchell ($5,600) – After missing last weeks game with a finger injury, Mitchell is expected to make his return against the Vikings this week. Just like the Chargers rushing defense, the Vikings give up a lot of points to running backs. They’ve given up the 5th most rushing yards per game (127), and are tied for the highest yards per rushing attempt allowed at 4.8 yards per carry. Injuries have hurt Mitchell a little bit this season, but when he plays, the 49ers use him a lot. He averages over 17 carries per game when he’s active, so don’t be scared off to start him as long as he’s on the field.
Miles Sanders ($5,000) – Sanders made his return last week, to an offense that has become a lot more run heavy since he was last healthy. Jordan Howard and Boston Scott were getting carry after carry, but with Sanders back in the fold, he out carried both of them, totaling 16 carries for 94 yards. Because he had no receptions or touchdowns, his fantasy points didn’t look too great, but the touches are a great sign to come. A big bonus comes with Jordan Howard being out. Howard has recorded 10+ carries in each of his past 4 games, scoring 3 touchdowns over that span. So I’d definitely expect to see Sanders take over some of that work, including the goal line touches. Put Sanders in your starting lineup this week.
