Maryland Online Sports Betting Launching in 2023
Back in November of 2020, voters approved Maryland sports betting. Later on in April of 2021, state legislators passed the bill legalizing online sports betting. Both Type A and Type B licenses have been issued for casinos, professional sports teams and stadiums, and physical retail locations. However, there are a few steps the need to be taken in order for Maryland online sports betting to commence.
One of them being the Sports Wagering Application Review Commission releasing its online sports betting applications. If this is done in the next few weeks, fans could be looking placing their bets on Super Bowl 57.
BREAKING: According to Jim Nielsen of SWARC, if the commission can release its online sports betting applications within the next week or two, Marylanders could potentially participate in online sports betting by the Super Bowl.
It doesn't seem like online will launch in 2022.

Maryland Sports Betting Team Partnerships
A few professional sports teams have already announced their partnerships with sportsbooks, that will lead to some pretty exciting stuff for bettors. The Washington Commanders have just recently announced that a retail sportsbook at FedEx Field will be opening soon. The NFL does have a current policy that prohibits sportsbooks in stadiums from opening on gamedays. The Washington Commanders have recognized this rule, and are continuing to move forward in compliance with the rule.
Maryland regulators approve Washington Commanders' retail sportsbook at FedEx Field unanimously and without debate; only "objection" was from commission chair Thomas Brandt, who joked it was hard to approve the book because he is a Ravens fan

A second team who has announced a partnership with a sportsbook is the Baltimore Orioles. Oriole Park at Camden Yards has officially announced their partnership with a sportsbooks and the opening of a retail sports lounge at the stadium. The sportsbook the Orioles will be teaming up with is SuperBook Sports. The anticipated completion date of this lounge is somewhere in early 2023, giving fans the chance to enjoy sports betting from a whole new venue.
The Orioles chief revenue officer also released a statement explaining how the franchise hopes this partnership will welcome new visitors to Baltimore, and reinforce their stadium as a premium entertainment destination.
