3 SuperFlex Options on OwnersBox
There is nothing more important on OwnersBox than maximizing the performance of your quarterbacks. With the SuperFlex position you are able to start two quarterbacks in your 9-player lineup. In this article I will talk about 3 QBs that I think you should try to include in your fantasy football lineups for week 8 in the NFL.
Jameis Winston ($6000) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
How on earth could I leave Jamies Winston off this blog when he has a revenge game? I cannot miss out Jameis playing his old team. But beyond just that I think the game script here will help Winston’s fantasy output. I think the acquisition of Mark Ingram this week has an underlying meaning. With the lack of skill in the receiving corps they need to get Alvin Kamara out wide or in the slot more often. Last week he ran 21 of his 31 routes from the backfield.
The Bucs and Saints are 1st and 2nd in the NFL against the run this season. I’d expect both these coaches to deploy gameplans around the passing game, making for a significant increase in total plays. This gives more opportunity for Winston to increase his fantasy point total.
Sean Payton’s success against the Buccaneers cannot be overlooked either, he has won the last 4 regular season games against the Bucs. A lot of people are sour on the Saints after a terrible offensive performance against the Seahawks. Include Jameis in your lineup as it could be a contrarian option as well.
Carson Wentz ($5900) vs Tennessee Titans
Carson Wentz is not turning the ball over. I cannot believe I am typing that out onto a blog. Frank Reich has steered this ship back on track for a massive divisional game at home against the Titans. The Titans have a pretty poor pass rush as well, so I think Wentz will still be able to take care of the football this week.
I’m not sure many people are noticing this but Wentz is 9th among quarterbacks in yards per attempt and has thrown the least amount of interceptions among starting QBs. Michael Pittman has played a big role in that success, he’s established himself as an elite possession receiver in the NFL.
The Titans are giving up 23.1 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position this season. I think they come into this game a little overrated after a win over Kansas City. The Colts passing game is hitting it’s stride and will lead them to an important divisional win over the Titans.
Justin Herbert ($7600) vs New England Patriots
There is no chance Justin Herbert forgets when the New England Patriots embarrassed the Chargers 45-0 in his rookie season. I truly believe he learned a lot from that game and will be prepared for the challenge that is Bill Belichick.
The Chargers are throwing the ball plenty this season, at the fifth highest rate to be exact. That is going to give the Patriots defense fits, as it did 2 weeks ago against the Cowboys. New England is giving up the 11th most yards per pass completion this season and has really struggled to get pressure on the quarterback.
The Chargers are in a get right spot here coming off a bye after getting demolished by the Ravens in week 6. The Patriots are 4th in the NFL against the run so the Chargers will be happy to put the ball in their quarterbacks hands. I want to include one of the most skilled players at the quarterback position in my lineup this week.
