Thanks to a long-awaited move, sports bettors in Kansas can finally wager on the Chiefs, Royals, or any other team they choose. Six sportsbooks and betting markets for the NFL, NCAAF, and MLB will be available at the initial “soft launch,” and a full launch planned for September 8 will offer a full array of betting options and potentially more sportsbooks. It’s an exciting time to be a Kansas sports bettor, so let’s get into all of the details!
Kansas Sports Betting Is Now Legal
Yes, Kansas sports betting is now legal.
Eight sportsbooks have been authorized to launch in Kansas, but the September 1 launch will feature only six sportsbooks: Barstool, BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet. FOX Bet and Bally Bet are expected to launch later in the month or in October, with Golden Nugget, and WynnBet strong bets to be included in the Kansas market share in the near future.
FanDuel confirms in a press release it will launch in Kansas tomorrow for the state’s soft sports betting launch.

Each of Kansas’ four casinos was authorized to accept sports bets, and each was given three skins, meaning Kansas can accept a maximum of 12 online sportsbooks. Here are the casinos and the current partners in place:
- Kansas Crossing Casino & Hotel: Caesars, PointsBet
- Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway: Barstool Sportsbook, FOX Sportsbook (projected)
- Kansas Star Casino: BetMGM, FanDuel
- Boot Hill Casino & Resort: Bally Bet (will not launch Sep. 1), DraftKings
When Can You Start Sports Betting in Kansas?
Kansas sports betting will launch on September 1 in a “soft launch.” The terminology might make it sound like there won’t be much to bet on, but that’s not the case. According to Rob Linnehan, the soft launch simply limits the sports bets that casinos and partners are required to accept.
Don't be confused on the "soft launch" terminology for the Kansas sports betting launch tomorrow at 12 p.m. local time.
As per the "soft launch," Kansas casinos and their operator partners will only be required to take bets on the NFL, MLB, and NCAAF.

Kansas sports bettors need only wait a week for the “full launch” which will require books and partners to accept wagers on all major sports that they offer. Bally Bet and FOX Bet may launch as soon as September 8 with this full rollout.
