Betting on the Masters
Welcome to one of, if not the biggest week of the PGA season: the Masters! All of the top players in the world will tee it up this week at the famous Augusta National course and compete for the Green Jacket in the first major of the season. With a loaded field of players, and a tight group of players leading the way in Vegas odds to win the event, we at Daily Fantasy Insider want to help you find the best bets and the biggest edges. Below we have a few tips for how we approach betting at the Masters!

How To Bet On Golf
Outright Winner
- Your standard bet on a single golfer to win the tournament. Pick who you think will win the tournament!
- If a player is +900 over another who is +1,100 and wins, then $900 is profited for every $100 wagered.
Each Way Odds
- This is also betting on a certain final standing, such as top-5 or top-10 hedged in with your outright ticket.
- As stated above, it includes two separate payouts.
Head to Head/Three Way Odds
- Similar to a moneyline on matchups
- Gives you the ability to bet one player you think will do the best out of a group without needing to bet long odds to win the whole thing in a big field of golfers
Masters Key Strategy
Strokes Gained Approach reigns as King in golf. Very rarely can a player be poor on approach and find success. Therefore, you should always lean towards guys that have been stronger in the SG: APP category unless there is a glaring hole in their game.
Avoid three putting! It is critical that players limit the number of three-putts they have this week on the extremely challenging undulations of the greens at Augusta National.
History at the Masters typically means more than it would any other week of the season. Understanding this course can be a big advantage, so a good history at this course can hint at who will find success.
Masters winners have come into Augusta playing great golf, as each of the last 10 winners made the cut in their previous start.
Each of the last ten golfers to win this tournament also gained a ton of Strokes from Tee-to-Green across their last four tournaments, favoring guys like Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Will Zalatoris, and Viktor Hovland who have been striking the ball amongst the best on Tour.
Avoid poor value. Guys like Scheffler and Cam Smith were north of 30-1 to win this tournament just a few weeks ago, but have spiked due to recent wins. Avoid paying the poor price for betting on these guys and take some value elsewhere!
Do not put all your eggs in the outright basket. There are better edges to be found in head-to-heads and three-ball wagers.
Top-20 and Top-10 bets can be very profitable. Some elite players get undervalued for top-10 equity and you can find + odds for the elites.
Live Betting is a sneaky strategy in golf. Sometimes you have guys that will be playing in the afternoon on Friday seeing their odds drop, meaning you can get great value before they tee off. Markets overreact to guys that are already on the course at times.
Why Bet with Daily Fantasy Insider?
At DFI we specialize in not putting out bets for outright winners. Our best golf bets come from props, specifically round-by-round 3-balls and tournament-long nationality props. We have a great process for modeling players’ statistics by round and applying these to the fit of the course. This leads to some of the best PGA bets in terms of value each week when we find + odds on elite players to outscore some of the weaker players in the field. This is a unique betting style that you will not see in very many other places! Check out our app to learn more.
