- Read below to lock in the best NFL betting pick in the Lions vs Packers odds
The NFL regular season wraps up on Sunday night in what is expected to be the game of the week. The Detroit Lions are in Green Bay to take on the Packers in what could end up being a win-and-in scenario for both teams. The Packers clinch a playoff spot with a win Sunday night while the Lions are still in contention if the Seahawks lose earlier in the day and they upset the Packers. We’ll dive into the Lions vs Packers odds, including a pick for Sunday night.
When handicapping a situation like this you have to have a look at the Seahawks scenario first. They are at home as 6-point favorites and are expected to take care of the Rams with -270 odds on the moneyline. As we all know, nothing is given in the NFL and we really won’t know what the Lions are playing for until an hour or so before they kickoff Sunday. One thing I am sure about is even if the Lions are eliminated from playoff contention I still believe a Dan Campbell led team will attempt to win and play spoiler.

Detroit Lions Betting Outlook
From a betting perspective, the Detroit Lions have been one of the best teams in the NFL. Over their last ten games, the Lions are 8-2 ATS which includes a 7-3 SU record over those games. Jared Goff and this Lions offense have been impressive in a season they did not have many pre-season expectations and when you realize they currently have the sixth ranked offensive DVOA, it adds up that they are still alive going into week 18.
This game is going to come down to the Lions defense, who are the polar opposite of their offense and rank 28th in defensive DVOA. With an offense who can score the ball and a defense who tends to struggle on a weekly basis, the Lions also have an impressive 10-6 record to the over this season, which could be worth a look in this spot. The Lions are going to be determined to control the clock with a mix of run and pass and for me, if the Lions go run first, they should have success. The Packers are far from a stout defense and if things fall the Lions way around the league, I expect them to be able to move the ball at Lambeau. Giving themselves a good shot at the playoffs.
Green Bay Packers Betting Outlook
Since losing to the Lions earlier in the season, the Packers have turned a corner. Over the last month, Green Bay is both 4-0 SU and ATS and while Aaron Rodgers appears to be battling through injury, he is finding ways to both win and cover when it matters. At the end of the day, sometimes you have to break it down quite simply and say this is Aaron Rodgers at home against the Detroit Lions in January. I know, that is not a way to handicap but it is most definitely something to keep in mind.
It appears the betting public tends to agree with the Rodgers vs Lions narrative as they are one of the top three bet teams this week over at BetMGM. That does not shock me when you break down the current state of the Packers and realize they are winning games their way. Expect this game to be highly competitive throughout but it’s hard to ignore the fact that one team has Aaron Rodgers and the other does not.

Lions vs Packers Pick and Prediction
This matchup is going to be fascinating. From a betting perspective, we obviously wish we had some more clarity on the situation but because of that, no side for me in this one. Rather, I am going to the total and doing something I would not normally do in a divisional game this late in the season. The over 49. I know, their are a ton of divisional under trends at this point of the year but I believe the recipe for both of these offenses is going to equal a game played in the high 20’s/low 30’s. Both offenses will move the ball and with a clear forecast for Lambeau Field Sunday night, I am confident in points. Packers 31-27.
Best Bet: Lions/Packers Over 49 (-110)
