Heading into Week 4, we have a matchup between two teams who have gotten off to a surprisingly good start. The 2-1 New York Giants are hosting the 2-1 Chicago Bears on Sunday from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This matchup sees New York as 3-point favorites in the Bears vs Giants odds, while the game has an over/under coming in at 39.5.
Sure, this game may feel underwhelming on paper, but when you really dig into some numbers, there is plenty of value in this matchup, and regardless of the quality of teams playing, you can always find winners.
Let’s take a look at the Bears vs Giants odds before we break down the best picks in this game.

Chicago Bears Betting Outlook
The Chicago Bears are not a good football team. They have opened the season with a 2-1 record with the wins coming from a monsoon victory over the 49ers and a 3-point victory over the Texans. This team has an abysmal offense which has seen Justin Fields put up a stat line of 23/45, 297 yards passing with 2 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions. 297 yards over three games may be one of the more insane stats I have seen in modern day football and as he heads deeper into this season, I do not envision things getting much better for him.
Justin Fields has 297 passing yards in 3 games. QBs have exceeded that in ONE game 19 times this season.
4 QBs have done it multiple times.
Geno Smith has done it.
This is historical futility passing from the Bears.

This Bears team is probably still feeling okay about themselves after getting a few wins, but if you take a peak into the NFL futures market, their team total for the regular season wins is still only 6.5. To be fair to Justin Fields, his pass-catching options are not the best but when you do have a potential breakout player in Darnell Mooney only being targeted 11 times through three games, something is seriously wrong.
New York Giants Betting Outlook
The Giants are coming off of a primetime loss where they fell to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. This Giants team leaves a lot to be desired, and they do have an extensive injury report, which is important on a short week. Their offense lost wide receiver Sterling Shepard to the MetLife turf on Monday which resulted in a torn ACL and his season being over.
NFL scrimmage yards leaders heading into Week 4:
1. Saquon Barkley (NYG) – 408
2. Nick Chubb (CLE) – 369
3. Jaylen Waddle (MIA) – 359
4. Stefon Diggs (BUF) – 344
5. Cordarrelle Patterson (ATL) – 330— Dan Salomone (@Dan_Salomone) September 28, 2022
Daniel Jones has been under pressure all season, and when you tune into a Giants game you can expect him to either be escaping the pocket to run or eating a sack in the backfield. Jones has been sacked 13 times through the first three games, and although the 2022 Bears do not necessarily have the strongest pass rush, this Giants offensive line will make them look like the 85′ Bears.
With bad pass protection and underwhelming pass catchers, the Giants have turned to Saquon Barkley and it has paid off in a big way. Barkley appears to be healthy once again and he is propelling this Giants team to look formidable. Carrying both the running game and being second on the team in receptions has given the Giants a true bell-cow back and if he can remain healthy, look for Barkley to continue to be near the top of the league in yards.
Bears vs Giants Pick & Prediction
These teams remind me of one another quite a bit and when you look at their season long outlook, they will both be picking top-10 in April’s NFL Draft. The Bears vs Giants odds in this game led me to believe Vegas would have these teams as a pick em’ on a neutral field, and to me, that feels a little generous to the Bears.
Because we cannot get a better number than -3 on the Giants I turned to the total and the under 39.5 on BetMGM. I think this game will be played in the high teens, and when you pair Fields’ career 9-4 record to the under with Jones’ 15-6 record to the under at home, I am confident in this spot for a unit.
I do like targeting one player prop per article, but in a game such as this filled with below-average weapons, I turned to Giants kicker Graham Gano. Gano has hit seven field goals over the past two weeks, and because this Giants offense is good enough to get into field goal range but not finish drives, I am more than happy taking Gano over his 1.5 field goals made at +100 in the Bears vs Giants odds. Gano’s ability to hit long field goals gives me confidence in this bet and with him being 4/4 on 50+ yard attempts, I’ll take my chances, and lock in our first kicker prop of the season.
Best Picks: Bears/Giants u39.5 (-110) BetMGM, Graham Gano Over 1.5 Made Field Goals (+100) BetMGM
