Warriors vs Celtics Game 4 Odds, Pick, and Prediction – Point Spread Moving With Curry Injury

Warriors vs Celtics Game 4 Odds, Prediction, and Pick

The Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics face off Friday night at the TD Garden in Game 4 of the NBA Finals. On paper, the Warriors are the team with more playoff experience and profound talent off the bench, but the Celtics are outworking the Warriors in the series. Boston is the favorite in the Warriors vs Celtics Game 4 odds.

In Game 3, the Celtics came out firing and beat the Warriors up physically. In vintage form, the Warriors clawed their way back into the game in the third quarter, only to get shut down in the fourth on their way to a loss.

Looking at the opening line for Game 4 of the NBA finals, the Celtics opened up as -3.5 favorites, with the total set at 212.5 points. These numbers are almost identical to the opening odds for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. With Steph Curry’s health up in the air, the spread has moved to -4 and even -4.5 at some New York online sports betting sites. Caesars Sportsbook has the best odds for people looking to back the Celtics in this Game 4 matchup. Let’s look at the updated odds for Friday night’s NBA Finals matchup.

Warriors vs Celtics Game 4 Odds

Team Moneyline Spread Total
Golden State Warriors +145 +4 (-110) Over 214.5 (-110)
Boston Celtics -170 -4 (-110) Under 214.5 (-110)

Warriors vs Celtics Game 3 Odds

Keys to Victory For Boston and Golden State

The Celtics opened up at -3.5, the identical spread we saw in Game 3. Due to recent reports on the Steph Curry ankle injury, the Celtics have jumped up to -4/-4.5 across the board. Curry mentioned in a press conference that there is no way he doesn’t suit up for Game 4, yet oddsmakers seem to believe that this foot injury will affect him.

Game 3 was a great display of the Celtics ability to dominate on both ends of the floor. Boston attacked Golden State in the first half, putting up 68 points on 57% shooting from the field. The big difference-maker for Boston in Game 2 versus Game 3 was their physicality.

In Game 2, Golden State dominated them on defense, holding them to only 88 points. Unlike in Game 2, Boston didn’t fold in the second half. Even though Golden State put on a classic performance in the third quarter, clawing back from a double-digit deficit, the Celtics came out in the fourth quarter and shut them down. They showed their ability to limit quality shots in the paint, forcing the Warriors to throw up desperation threes at the end of the shot clock.

After losing the battle in the third quarter, the Celtics dominated the Warriors in the final frame, 23-11. Curry’s foot injury in the second half allowed the Celtics to take advantage and close out the game. Curry made it clear that he will play, but if this foot injury is severe, the Celtics will look to exploit him. They will take him to the basket and force him to play tough defense. This storyline will be something to monitor over the next 24 hours.

A primary key to a Golden State victory is maintaining their defensive pressure for 48 minutes. They played excellent on the defensive end of the floor in Game 2, but that fell apart early in Game 3 as the Celtics scored at will in the first half. If Steph Curry is healthy enough to perform at his usual level and Golden State gets back to their Game 2 intensity, the Warriors have a great chance to knot the series back up.

Warriors vs Celtics Game 4 Pick

The Warriors are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Celtics. The spread in the Game 4 matchup has jumped up a full point due to the news of Curry’s foot injury. The fact is, Golden State has been much weaker on the road in the 2022 playoffs. They are 3-5 straight up and 2-6 against the spread as visitors.

I broke this down in my 2022 NBA Finals preview, but it’s evident to me that Boston is the more physical team in this series. The short one-day rest won’t allow Steph Curry and the Warriors to recover from that tough battle in Game 3. With that in mind, I will take the Celtics -4 for one unit at Caesars Sportsbook.

Pick: Boston Celtics -4 (-110, 1 unit at Caesars Sportsbook)
