MLB Betting For April 27th
We’ve found winning days in back to back editions of the MLB Betting blog. That is 3-0-1 in the last 4. There are a number of underdogs on the slate today that are at serious plus money. It is so hard to avoid the plus sign when I’m betting so here are two that I’ve settled in on.
Diamondbacks ML (+160) vs Dodgers – Best Odds: BetRivers
Bets have been flying in on Los Angeles today after falling to Arizona 5-3 on Tuesday night. But this line has been holding firm, despite the heavy discrepancy in tickets. Which should raise your eyebrows as it likely means sharp money is on the other side.
The Diamondbacks have been brutal against left handed pitchers this season, the worst in MLB to be exact. That isn’t a good sign when going up against Julio Urias. The lineup for the D’backs has been stacked with right handed hitters as a result as Urias is giving up a .304 AVG on the road to RHH.
Zac Gallen is on the hill for Arizona, he’s enjoyed plenty of recent success against the Dodgers. In 3 starts last season he authored a 3.63 ERA and 20 strikeouts. His stuff has looked really good this season too, his spin rate is high and his opponents average exit velocity is in the 95th percentile according to Baseball Savant.
I like the value that the Diamondbacks are providing this afternoon with their ace on the bump.
Rockies ML (+190) vs Phllies – Best Odds: BetRivers
The Philadelphia bats have been on fire in this series through two games, they’ve scored 18 runs in the series so far. The Rockies on the other hand have have been unable to produce on the road.
The Phillies right handed arms have dominated so far in this series, I think the chance to see a left handed arm should be beneficial to them. Ranger Suarez is on the hill and the Rockies can take a really right handed heavy lineup to him. The splits for Suarez are .177 against left handed hitters and .273 against right handed hitters.
People will overemphasize the fact the Rockies are much better at home, we all know that. But it doesn’t mean they are a completely different team on the road. I see a ton of value here as such massive underdogs considering they are 6th in baseball in OPS against left handed pitchers.
