Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Pickup #1 – Adin Hill
The Vegas Golden Knights were left reeling a little bit late in the offseason with the news that Robin Lehner would miss the entire season due to injury. That’s on top of already being without Laurent Brossoit, who’s also injured to begin the season.
While NHL oddsmakers bumped the team down in terms of Stanley Cup futures, there was reason to believe rookie Logan Thompson was up to the task in net. Some insurance was necessary, though, so they went out and acquired Adin Hill from the San Jose Sharks and now he makes it as one of our Fantasy Hockey waiver wire pickups for Week 3.
Adin Hill now 3-0-0 with a .935 save percentage. I'd take a chance on him in deep leagues if you have the roster space, as maybe you get lucky and he gets more of a share of the net. Vegas looks really good. #VegasBorn

Hill has allowed exactly two goals in each of his three starts, and he’s earned wins in all of them. The 26-year-old might still take a bit of a backseat to Thompson, but Hill is increasingly becoming an attractive option for new head coach Bruce Cassidy, whose system is pretty goalie friendly.
The Golden Knights are going to win a lot of games, and don’t forget that when Brossoit is healthy, Thompson is the only goalie of the three that can be sent down to the AHL without having to go through waivers. Perhaps there’s more longevity to Hill’s tenure than first expected, and you want to get on top of it now before it’s too late.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Pickup #2 – Matt Grzelcyk
A Boston Bruins defenseman returned from offseason shoulder surgery and is making an immediate impact.
No, you still have to wait for Charlie McAvoy to get back to game action. We’re talking here about Matt Grzelcyk, a lesser-known unsung hero on the Bruins’ blue line, but is certainly a must add Fantasy Hockey player.
Matt Grzelcyk extended his point streak to 3 games (0 goals, 3 assists, 3 points) with his assist on Taylor Hall's goal. #NHLBruins

Grzelcyk has recorded an assist in each of his three games played this season, and hit a season-high five shots on goal in a game on Oct. 22 against the Minnesota Wild – that’s a sneaky prop bet waiting to be exploited. He also chips in some blocks and the odd hit, if your league counts those stats.
Grzelcyk has yet to record a power play point, but he’s getting a couple of minutes of ice time per game on the man advantage as well.
In deep leagues, he’s a solid option to keep it going, especially with Boston’s firepower up front.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Pickup #3 – Oliver Wahlstrom
Anytime a player is bumped to his team’s top line, you need to take notice.
That’s the case with Oliver Wahlstrom and the New York Islanders, as he’s set to play with Mat Barzal beginning Wednesday against the New York Rangers.
Wahlstrom already has three goals and an assist to go along with 18 shots through five games this season, and that’s only with 13 minutes of ice time and sparse power play deployment.
Drafted 11th overall in 2018, it’s time for the Islanders to see if that pick was hit or miss, and fantasy managers can reap the benefits of a prime line assignment for the 22-year-old.
