Alabama Betting Outlook
Alabama backers this season have gotten off to a hot start. The Crimson Tide are 3-1 ATS thus far, missing the only cover in the narrow victory over Texas. However, Nick Saban was back doing Nick Saban things last week beating Vanderbilt 55-3.
Alabama’s defense has been on another planet, led by psychopath edge rusher Will Anderson. They have fifth-best defense according to PFF grades, along with the highest-rated run defense. That won’t bode well for KJ Jefferson and the Razorbacks considering they run the ball almost 70% of plays on offense, which is the fifth highest in the NCAA.

Chad Morris 0-2
Danny Ford 2-3

Lou Holtz 0-1
Sam Pittman 0-2— PrideOfTheTide.com (@PrideOfTheTide) September 29, 2022
Their offense has been good but not as flashy in years past. Without high skill guys like John Metchie or Jameson Williams, the offense has definitely been less effective. However, Bryce Young is still a stud. Against Vandy, this kid threw for 385 yards, four touchdowns, and not a single pick.
Alabama has dominated this rivalry, winning the last 10 straight up. The ATS record is much more even, with both teams covering five games each over the last 10 matchups. The Crimson Tide edge in this rivalry is a good reason why we are seeing them as such heavy road favorites in the Alabama vs Arkansas odds.
Arkansas Betting Outlook
Behind the legs of the KJ Jefferson and Raheim Sanders, Arkansas has the ninth-ranked rushing offense. They’re running to the tune of 243.8 yards per game. However, they’ve played Texas A&M, Missouri State, South Carolina, and Cincinnati. Apart from the Bearcats, Texas A&M (54.9 PFF Grade) and South Carolina (55.0 PFF Grade) both have bottom 10 run defense grades at PFF.
It’s the biggest weekend of CFB so far.

This will definitely be the toughest defense KJ Jefferson has faced. However, Alabama will be going up against an Arkansas defense that has allowed 23 or more points in every game. Arkansas has the sixth worst tackling grade in PFF, which leads me to believe this Alabama offense can get off to an hot start quickly.
Their coverage has been solid, but their run defense has been weak. Jase McClellan and Jamarion Miller averaged seven yards per carry against Vanderbilt, so if they get the run game going early it could be bad news bears for the Razorbacks.
Alabama vs Arkansas Pick
The Razorbacks haven’t been able to string back-to-back solid running performances, and Alabama just took Vandy to the cleaners, so I’m looking at a Crimson Tide first half bet.
Alabama is averaging 29.3 first half points through four games, which is the third most in the NCAA. Arkansas is averaging just 16.3 points in the first half, and as I’ve alluded to I think these Razorbacks are going to have a tough time lighting up the fire.
Even looking at the Alabama vs Arkansas betting trends, seems like the public money is on the Razorbacks, and sharp money is coming in on the Crimson Tide. 63% of the total money is on Alabama -17.5, but just 48% of the bets.
I’ll be taking the Crimson Tide -8.5 1H at -115 in the Alabama vs Arkansas odds at BetRivers. Most online sportsbooks have -10, which is also a number I would bet on.
Pick: Alabama 1H -8.5 (-115) 1 unit
